Agents of the Eye
Slavery, smuggling, drug running and pushing, blackmail, extortion, theivery, assassination, forgery and money laundering are amongst the many major activities that the Agents of the Eye partake of, but the gathering of information is their chief task. There are few secrets that escape their notice, and information is always available for the right price, if you can find the right agent to ask. They are a large and shadowy operation, many of whom are unaware of the others, and their chief nest is in Skullport. Even here, they don’t maintain an exactly public presence, operating instead through mercenaries or dupes.
They are named for their mysterious chief, whose identity is much guessed at but unknown. There are five lieutenants that have supposedly been in direct contact with their boss, but even they have never met the Eye face to face. Some say it’s a faceless Bodak whose very glance can kill, others speak of an inhuman beholder or an alien Gith, or perhaps a shifting doppelganger. Whatever the truth is, it is unlikely to be known soon, as the Eye is paranoid beyond reason, and exceptionally circumspect in maintaining its Agents as a network of informers. As with any secret society, infighting is a common problem, especially as one part often is unaware of the aims and goals of another, and the Agents will frequently find themselves direct rivals for the same prize.
