Far in the bitter plains to the north of Vynheim lie the lands of the Kalakuri barbarians, a white wasteland of sea ice and snow-encrusted islands that sprawls in an icy tumble for months of travel in all directions. The Kalakuri are a hard and fairly primitive people, many of who serve the Frost Giants as soldiers and servants, although some are fiercely independant. They do not use metal in their weapons as a rule, for it is nearly impossible to mine in the frozen earth of their homelands, and often bring stone spears and axes to a fight, as well as a weird and dangerous weapon known as a ‘sugliin’ – a staff with a sharpened mass of horn and bone tied to the top, cumbersome but capable of inflicting appalling wounds.
None of them take well to strangers, and are generally distrustful of magic, southerners, stonedwellers (as they call any who live in cities) and any gods but their own cold ones. They are supreme survivors in cold climates, hardy to the extreme and have great scorn for even the coldest winters of the lands outside their own.
